I’ve been on an Infinity Scarf-making spree lately. I enjoy knitting scarves (they are about the only thing I CAN knit) and it is good to have something to occupy my hands during the long dark winter evenings. Haha, isn’t there a saying about busy hands keeping one out of trouble? Anyway . . . a burning fire, a good movie, a cup of tea and a knitting project make my winter evenings something to look forward to . . . SIGH!
For these scarves I used Size 15 needles and Cozy Wool by Loops & Threads. It is chunky and soft and I just got an email that it is ON SALE this weekend at Michaels. I cast on 18 stiches and then knit 2, pearl 2, knit 2, and so on, repeating to the end of the row (for those of you who actually knit from patterns my instructions will probably give you a good chuckle). I used two skeins of yarn and ended up with the perfect length to be worn long or doubled up. After casting off I used my yarn to sew the two ends together, and voila!
In keeping with my OldThingsNew theme I gave an update to a traditional (OLD) scarf by adding a leather bracelet adornment to one of the scarves . . .(edgy!)
. . . and a wide satin ribbon to the other (sweet!). Both were ideas sent to me by my youngest daughter as she placed her order!
I think it would be fun to add old jewelry, pins or even buttons in the same way.
Here is a close-up of the “weave” of the pattern. Is that the term you would use my knitting friends? I’m pretty sure it isn’t, but I know someone will help me out!
I’ve knitted so many scarves now that it seems like it is probably time to move onto something more challenging, but then I don’t know if I really want to do anything more complicated. Counting and keeping track of rows would probably take away from the complete sense of mindlessness I achieve with this relaxing pastime.
They tell me Spring is right around the corner but until then keep warm, and take some time to enjoy a little winter hibernation!
Blessings to you,

I like how the different accent can totally change the look of the scarf. The leather one is very cool and edgy, the ribbon one is soft and feminine. Great job.
Thanks Stephanie.
I love these scarves! I also love love love the idea of adding a brooch or pin to them, and the ribbon addition is lovely. I have been on a cowl knitting spree since they are easy, and fast, to knit up. I havent used loops and threads yarn so since its on sale i have no excuse not to get some haha!
I cant wait to see if you try other things…try cowls! They are easy and very stylish haha!

Thank you Christine.
cute!!! I love the ribbon accent–great idea
🙂
I had to check out this post about the scarves because my daughter and her husband started a ministry in China teaching at-risk women how to knit and then paying them for making infinity scarves. They sell them here in the US online and through churches. The women were victims of injustice and at-risk of becoming prostitutes to make a living. Now the whole family wears them. I love the idea of adding the ribbon. You can check out their web site at deepgreenproject.org
Have a great week! sandy ; )

Love YOUR knitting projects Ana.
Your scarf is so pretty! I’ve knit some of the ruffled scarves this year but I haven’t done an infinity one yet. I’ll have to give it a try. You should share this week at Transformed Tuesday. My readers would love to see. Hugs, Peggy~PJH Designs
I sure will! Thank you Peggy.
Great scarves! I’ve been doing the same thing this winter. Keeps me busy at night and it’s the only thing I know how to crochet!
We both better stretch ourselves and learn to do some other things right?
Adorable! I love infinity scarves too. I knitted a striped one that took forever but I like how it turned out. I really like the leather and ribbon added to it.
I’d love to see your striped scarf!
Love your scaves, especially with the ribbon!
Thanks so much.

Patti, you look like a model to hire. So, so cute and I love the scarf. Wish I could knit. I’m trying to enjoy Winter, but oh I am so ready to come out of hibernation. Spring lover am I! lol! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,

You are too funny Jann. A model with a few curves! Thank you.
I absolutely LOVE the simplicity of these scarves with the added touch you made to each, my favorite is the satin ribbon! I’m eager to try that one myself since I too enjoy knitting scarves. I have tried knitting more complex patterns but I always return to the simplicity of the knit and purl combo it’s a more relaxing process that keeping track of certain stitches. Love these thanks for sharing 🙂
