I put on mascara today for the first time in six days. No more leaky eyes today as I am almost home . . . my new home in South Carolina. . . and I am so excited!
After six days on the road we’ve officially arrived in The New South and I’m ready for our new adventure! It has been quite a cross country trip with Mr. OTN and three dogs day and night. We’ve made some fun memories for sure.
Right now I’m sitting in a Nashville Hotel lobby waiting to sign papers on the home we sold back in Washington State. The people who bought our home are also signing the paperwork on the house they sold today, as well as on our old house, and we will close on our new home on Friday.
This is it! What do you think? After hours of Internet surfing and a trip out to look at our top picks this was the one that felt like home to both of us. It isn’t at all like my little house on the lake. It is very traditional inside and out.
The moving van is on the way with an “open” delivery date. A five day window of August 28-September 3rd. We may be there for a few days without furniture but when the van arrives they will begin to unload the things we’ve collected over the years. Things that belonged to my mother, things that belonged to my mother-in-law, things given to me by friends. These are the things that will make this house our home.
So I’m sorry for the long absence from blogging. I’ve been a wee bit busy. I may be busy for a few more weeks but then I will return . . . and I promise I will have so much to share!
Blessings to you,
Patti

Wow, Patti, God really has taken care of things for you. What perfect timing on the closings and paperwork. I must admit though, that this house seems so conmpletely opposite of you that it’s thrown me a curve! I personally LOVE it…always wished for something along this line and style, but at this stage of my life I’m glad I didn’t get what I thought was my heart’s desire! I have way too much “stuff” now as it is to deal with…LOL.
I can hardly wait to see what you do with the place…especially the kitchen. I adored the one you left behind… Congratulations on getting this far!

No apology needed, dear friend!!!
I have appreciated your updates of your journey via facebook!!!
Get some rest. . .for you’re going to need all your strength UNpacking all those boxes!!!
Looking forward to hearing more about your new home in the near future!
Fondly,
Pat
P.S. Buy two box knives. . .trust me, you’ll misplace the first one!!!

I’m so happy for you. And, even though I’ve moved from our home (my friend a mile from my house!) to the desert, I still feel a little teary just thinking about the fact that my wonderful Patti and Mr. OTN won’t be there when *I* go home to visit. My heart is sad, but my spirit is so so happy for you both. I hope this is the culmination of everything you’ve hoped for. And I hope you find a welcoming church home, and somewhere you can share all your FS wisdom.
Love you both so very, very much. And so proud.
Emily
(And I agree with Pat – I was always losing my box knife. 😉 hehe)

Your new home looks gorgeous, Patti! I can’t wait to see the inside. It can be an emotional time, moving. I still haven’t looked back at pictures of our old house. I come across one or two and that’s fine, but I think I would just get too emotional. Anyway, it will be an exciting new adventure for you!
