I love going on vacation this time of year because when you come home after only a week away there are so many changes. The temperatures have warmed by 10 degrees, the swelling buds on the trees have begun to explode into flowers, the sun shines brighter, and the birds chirp louder . . . or so it seems.
I enjoy changing out the bookcases in our den with the Seasons.
Since Spring is about to burst forth I’ve added a lot of green accents.
All reflected in mirrors collected from various thrift stores and from around the house (you can read all about my Brilliant Mirrored Bookcases right HERE).
With St. Paddy’s Day right around the corner my little leprechauns have joined in the fun.
This little guy reminds me of my father who felt so strongly tied to his Irish roots.
I think it’s pretty great of Mr. OTN to let me rummage through his office for books of green.
This is his favorite room to relax in after a long day at work and he actually takes great delight in my making it a comfortable place for him to come home to.
Do you have a favorite room? The rooms that we spend the most time in can become kind of messy and neglected but I believe it’s important to take care to make these rooms as welcoming as any other part of the home. These spaces can be real sanctuaries, places of escape from the outside world.
Is the weather becoming Springlike yet where you live? Have you begun any Spring cleaning or Spring decorating? Sometimes we just have to start the ball rolling and wait for the weather to follow!
Almost Spring blessings to you my friends 😉

Patti,
I adore the addition of green in your bookcases, dear friend!
The green covered books, faux greenery and leprechauns add a sense of awakening as we prepare for Spring’s arrival!
Here on the Prairie’s of Kansas, we’ve experienced temperatures up into the 70’s for several weeks.
Like you, all the bushes and trees are budding out.
Just today, I found many of my plantings turning green and showing their foliage.
Spring cleaning? No! This left shoulder is still causing havoc on my world and quality of life!
Touches of Spring decorating? Yes!
Hoping to have a day, or two, of sunshine to photograph a Spring Tablescape, soon!
Your post brighten (and lighten) my day. Thank you!
Fondly,
Pat

Spring is springing up all over the place here in SE Kansas! My forsythia are blooming, the daffodils have been proudly asserting themselves for a couple of weeks now and many, many flowering trees are just in a race see to who will be noticed first! It’s always a wonderful time to see new growth and be reminded of new life. Your bookcases are beautiful and I know it is satisfying to your inner core that Mr. OTN feels blessed to have a sanctuary like that to come home to.

Oh! How I love green! It has always been my favorite color because it’s the color of nature. Very relaxing and comforting. It’s a good Spring color, indeed.

What a pretty room, and I just love the nod to Spring in your green decor. I agree, that we should keep our living areas as nice as possible. I can’t relax if there is a mess around me! Happy Spring!

Those are BEAUTIFUL book cases!! I love how you have decorated them, especially the Irish accents.
I am the great-granddaughter of Patrick & Katie O’Connor, from County Cork. My mom has been researching our ancestry and it so interesting to find out the history behind our family. My parents have had the privilege and blessing of visiting Ireland seven years in a row. Such beautiful country.
Your accents of green cheered me today. Thanks for sharing!

Great job decorating your bookcases for spring and St Pat’s Day! Terrific idea to tuck a few mirrors in here and there – really brightens up the area.

What fun!
Is that an actual shofar on your shelf?
I love the leprechauns, and it looks as if our leps will be able to arrive and play their pranks without freezing their little feet in the snow as they did last year.
I saw signs of pussy willows on Saturday!
Your ability to bring beauty to every corner of your home inspires me!
