Summer came in earnest on Saturday with the first REAL humidity of the year. The kind that leaves even heat lovers like us seeking air conditioned spaces. Then in the night came thunder, and lightening, and a real downpour that my yard gladly drank in.
Spring is my favorite time of year in the South. The yards are so green and different varieties of flowers are blooming daily.
May seems to be the month for magnolias and gardenias.
I’m musing today on the complexity of doggie relationships . . .
. . . as I consider why this perfectly behaved ten-year-old dog of ours would suddenly begin leaving nasty little messes in the house.
Oh I know it has something to do with the new puppy entering her world, but I’d like to get in her head and understand her WHY?
Because maybe if we knew the WHY we would know the answer to the problem.
In the meantime, she received a good scolding this morning and I do believe she is smart enough to think twice before trying something so foolish again, especially on the oriental carpet 🙁
I’m musing as well today on why my funny seems to have left me of late.
Hubby and I discussed it a bit this weekend and I came to the conclusion that my funny feeds off of other funny people and I haven’t been around enough of those types lately.
I know, a lot of people say that Mr. OTN is funny. But he’s funny in a different kinda’ way. Like the smart guy who acts goofy kinda’ way.
Right now I just might be hoping hubby doesn’t read this post. Click To Tweet
It’s all good honey. It’s like Disney’s Goofy. You like him, right?
My kind of funny is more like this:
At times I'm shocked at the brilliance of my words. Then I try to get out of the car with my seat belt on. Click To Tweet
I think I need time with some of my quick witted friends to get my funny back. Soon gals, soon. 🙂
Today I’m also musing on the message we heard in church yesterday about how we can be certain to know God’s will when we don’t allow ourselves to be conformed to the world’s views, but are instead, transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:1-2).
We renew our minds when we spend time in God’s word and in prayer, getting to know Him, and when we deliberately focus on whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, and on all things good, excellent and worthy of praise (Phil. 4:8).
It is so important to be careful about the things we allow our minds to settle on isn’t it?The more we fill our minds with toxic thoughts, the less room we have for God. Click To Tweet
And the less room we have for God, the less we know His perfect will for us.
I don’t know about you, but I want to know and walk in God’s will for me, because I know it far surpasses anything I could plan for myself.
As a bonus, and to keep you engaged while listening to my musings, here’s a little Spring vignette I created for my kitchen dining nook.
Thanks for stopping by 😉

I love your vignette as well; as your words about the sermon you heard! God is so patient with us isn’t he?
God is patient indeed! Thank you Melinda dear 🙂
Patti: Everything about his post is beautiful – thank you. I needed to read it today.
Awww…thank you Sandra. I’m so happy you enjoyed it! Blessings 🙂
I hope I can add to your funny fuel tank soon. I mentioned this past weekend at a girlfriend luncheon that I find Chip Gaines’ humor almost obnoxious and she said she laughs at everything he does and says. She then told me to remember that I live with a man that keeps me laughing and she lives with a guy that never laughs…it seemed relative. Xo
Oh Susan m’dear, you are SURE to add fuel to my funny tank. I can hardly believe I get to see you for lunch next week, and then again on the weekend at the lake! I am one blessed gal <3
Beautiful post and vignette! Awesome that I should read it today as you included the passage from Romans 12. The Spirit has strongly impressed upon me to study Romans for months and this chapter in particular over the past few weeks. As time passes, this truth becomes more beautiful, kind of like your old teacup, but much more so!
I love it Jane! God id good 🙂
Pretty china! Our almost 10 year-old dog likes to punish us for a variety of unknown infractions in a similar way. It’s a good thing she’s so cute!
Cuteness makes up for a lot of mistakes doesn’t it Jen? In dogs and humans alike. Here is my mistake. After sternly scolding the old dog and having her frantic to get outside the next night, we caught little pup making poop in exactly the same place and it was HUGE. We realized you can’t judge a dog by the size of its pile. Poor Sasha is off the naughty list and CharliGirl is on constant watch. 🙂
Well, Patti, I feel as if we just had a visit! I love this meandering post!
And sometimes I forget to put the car in park and then wonder why I can’t get the keys out. (Good thing car manufacturers plan for my particular brand of idiocy.)
I do the SAME thing Michele! Or the glasses on the head that I can’t find anywhere? The older I get the “funnier” I get it seems 😉
I’m that kind of funny too. I also surround myself with my quick-witted friends. I’m glad I stopped by from Tune in Thursday.
Well I just know we would get along famously then Melinda. Thank you for stopping by 😉
Well I just know we would get along famously then! Glad you stopped by 🙂
WOW! Love your tea set !
Thank you so much Maristella. I found a whole set of these dishes in a local Vintage/Antique shop. I was so excited to bring them home 🙂
God does make our world so much richer if we stop, listen, and heed. Your vignette was pretty, and your dishes prettier. Thanks for sharing and have a great holiday.
Thank you Marlene and you have a great holiday as well 🙂
Your vignette is beautiful and I am loving all the heady gardenias and magnolias right now!!! And that first click to tweet had me laughing! I need humor to be my best self too. Popped over from Fresh Market Friday!
I’m so glad you popped over Aimee! Isn’t laughter wonderful? Sending blessings your way.
Oh goodness that is pretty! Thanks for joining Home Sweet Home!
I love these dishes — is it bad to say I covet them, but not in a terrible, or mean, bad way… I promise. I love that I was there when you found them – you always have the best eye for hidden treasures. Thanks for linking up with me every week at #TuneInThursday
Hi Patti, The Carolinas certainly are beautiful in the spring! Love visiting them! Your images are delightful. Spending time with friends does help to bring your funny back. Hope you get to soon. 🙂 Sounds like your dog is having a bit of jealousy going on. So sorry! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
Beautiful, Patti!
Everything came together so pretty!
Great work!
