“Two years ago, my story of purpose, in the second part of my life, began when I walked through a set of glass, double doors for the last time. I left confident, full of hope and with dreams that seemed in my reach.” – Mary Geisen
No matter what season of life we’re in, most of us have hopes and dreams for the future don’t we? At least I hope we do because the Bible says in Proverbs 29:18 that without vision God’s people perish.
But what happens when the journey that God leads us on looks different than we’d imagined? And what happens when our purpose doesn’t seem to be coming to fruition? How do we keep from letting go of the dream that God has placed within us when we are in a long period of waiting?
Today I’m back to share Part Five of an 8-part series on Perseverance that three great writer friends and I have been working on together. These dear and beautiful friends are:
Mary Geisen, Holly Barrett, and Debbie Kitterman.
If you haven’t already read them you can click on the titles below to catch up on each of the previous posts in the Perseverance series: 🙂
- Bravely Overcoming Fear
- Persevering in Recovery
- When Prayers Remain Unanswered
- The Sting of Rejection
Today’s perseverance post, Wishing, Waiting, and Pursuing, is written from Mary’s experience of being ready to take the next step in her life’s journey and finding, in the wait, that things didn’t play out exactly as she’d imagined.

We are more than halfway through our series and what a privilege it has been to be a part of this special group of women. I’ve looked forward each week to what each one has for us next and I hope you have too.

These were great stories, I am older and wiser but it does my heart good to see younger women that will stand in that gap. Thanks.
