Hubby’s Top 10 List for Father’s Day

June 11, 2017 by Patti 33 Comments

We are on to something brilliant here, Mr. OTN and I!

Last month I posted the TOP 10 things I wanted for Mother’s Day, hoping to give y’all some ideas of what a mom like me yearns for.  I had no intention of giving hints to my daughters, especially since I don’t really think they come over to read my blog posts unless my title suggests some shocking family secret about to be revealed.  Only then might they pop over to make sure I’ve protected their identity.

However, when I did the Mother’s Day post last month, guess what showed up on my porch a few days later?  Yes!  One of the gifts I’d listed.

Mr. OTN doesn’t really expect a gift but I asked him to pick his Top 10 List for Father’s Day anyway, just so I’d know what’s going to show up on the porch next . . . because if he wants something badly enough he generally buys it before anyone else has the chance.

Note: By clicking on the pictures you will be linked to the products. I do receive a small commission for anything purchased from Amazon, although you don’t pay any more than you normally would by going to Amazon directly yourself.

This is the list, in ascending order:

10.  Alexa Voice Remote Control (you might guess that more is coming in this vein, as who buys the remote without the equipment, right?)

9.  Echo Dot  – This is a smaller version of the Alexa unit I told you about in my Mom’s Day post.  We have one of these in our bedroom and I boss it around while I get ready in the morning, asking it to set the timer, tell me the weather outside, play my favorite music, etc.

8.  BBQ Grill Tool Set with 16 Accessories and Aluminum Case – I love the case idea but how many guys put their toys away when they’ve finished with them?

7.  Garrett Deluxe Gold Pan Kit – Because what guy isn’t an explorer at heart.

6.  Roku Premier HD & 4K Streaming Media Player – No clue.

5.  Echo – This is like the Echo Dot (Alexa lives inside) except with a speaker.

4.  Penn Special Senator Star Drag Reel – This is sure to make a so-so fisherman a great fisherman 😉

3.  Garrett Ace 250 Metal Detector – For more treasure hunting of course.

2.  Garmin Echomap Chirp with Transducer – Don’t ask me about the transducer and why it chirps.

And finally . . .

1. A DeWalt 10″ Compact Job Site Tablesaw – The hub’s favorite, which he already ordered and is sitting in the garage as I type.

I’m pretty sure that Mr. OTN’s Father’s Day list adds up to quite a bit more hard earned cash than my Mother’s Day list did, but really, don’t the really good dads deserve to be spoiled on their special day?

Happy Father’s Day Mr. OTN

God bless our Dads!

Thank you Pam. It is much better to ask the hubs for a list than to try to buy for him on my own. Sometimes the things I choose really don’t line up with his wants!

Also, are you going to be writing a post of your new adorable puppy? Love to hear how she’s doing and if there’s a story behind you getting her.
Happy Father’s Day and bless you, Mr. OTN!

Who doesn’t like metal detecting or panning for gold? !!
The saw would be good, too.
I think I now need an amazon echo. I am always having to go look for my phone (or yell to somebody else to do it) to see the weather so I know what to wear. And sometimes I just wanna boss somebody around during the day besides the dog. hahahaha
We already have the Roku Premiere. We like it.
Mr. OTN can have the fishing gear …I don’t fish. Water means mosquitos and I am a MAGNET for them! LOL

You are so funny Robin! I think you SHOULD have an Amazon Echo. The gal, Alexa, who lives inside of the Echo is very responsive to commands and she never talks back. Glad to hear you like the Roku Premiere. That is the one thing that I have no clue about . . . what it does or why . . . but I suppose I will find out when it shows up on the doorstep.
Have a great week friend 😉

Oh, and I have to say, I’d love to have that table saw too! I love repurposing furniture and am often in need of a saw like that. Thankfully, I have friends who help me out! ha! Thanks so much for the list and I hope that your hubby gets at least one of those gifts on your porch!

How cool that you repurpose furniture too Beth! I haven’t done much of it since moving here. My old house had a huge garage full of pieces I picked up cheap, but we couldn’t justify paying a mover to bring them with us. I have now officially linked up to your link party. Thanks Beth.

Welcome! I am Perfectly Imperfect Patti and I’d like to invite you to come in and take a seat in this creative space of mine.

I love the process of hunting for orphaned and cast off furniture (particularly my Chosen Chairs) and then taking the time to transform each piece into something new and beautiful. This process allows me to reflect upon my own story of transformation and blesses me over and over with each piece I redesign.

“In 1965, Charles Schulz, a devout Christian and “In 1965, Charles Schulz, a devout Christian and creator of the Peanuts comic strip, was asked to create a Christmas special for CBS featuring the Peanuts Characters. He agreed with one requirement, that they allow him to include the story of the birth of Jesus. Although the stations executives were hesitant and tried to convince him otherwise, Schulz was insistent. As a result, for the past 50 plus years, millions of people have watched “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and heard the story of Jesus and “what Christmas is all about.”

It wasn’t until a few years back that I realized a “hidden message” in the film. Linus, a child who seems to have some insecurities as he carries a security blanket with him at all times. In fact, Linus NEVER drops his blanket, except once....

While sharing the message of “what Christmas is all about,” Linus drops his blanket at the exact moment he says the words, “fear not!”

In this seemingly innocent moment, Linus delivers a powerful reminder of the true meaning of Christmas. We are to “fear not”, for Jesus is born. We needn’t rely on material things for security, we have God with us, “Immanuel”, (Matthew 1:23) Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior - the true meaning of Christmas.

Awhile back, someone informed me, indignantly so, that Linus picks up his blanket at the end of the speech so my interpretation must be wrong. Well, he was right, Linus does pick up his blanket at the end of his speech. However, he “drops” it again later...

Amid big, bright, colorful, shiny artificial trees, Charlie Brown chose the least of these, a little, wooden tree with just a few branches. Shortly thereafter, Linus uses his blanket to wrap about the base of the tree and says, “Maybe it just needs a little love”. In that moment, the tree “awakens”, stands tall and firm. A reminder that no matter who we are, how many mistakes we’ve made, a “little love” can make all the difference.

Let’s strive to “fear not” (Luke 2:10) and “love one another” (John 13:34), not just at Christmastime, but the whole year through.”
